Even though it the rain stopped it is still windy and trees and branches are still falling causing power outages in places which were not affected earlier.

Morning of the Hurrican in New Jersey

It was raining all night long and we could hear strong winds. In the morning we discovered large broken branch in our neighbor's backyard and small leak in the basement. Other neighbors are reporting the same: broken trees and branches and leaks in the basement. Electricity is still on and that is what matters. But it is not over yet.

Hurricane Irene is here

Outer bands of the Hurricane Irene have reached Northern New Jersey. It raining heavily on and off but the worst is yet to come. There are Hurricane Warning, Flood Warning and Tornado Warning in effect. We are mostly concerned about falling trees and floods in low lying areas here: it's been raining a lot here lately and soil is already over saturated.
